Can WeTransfer take payment for a file?
Yes. WeTransfer added paid transfers in 2024: you set a price when creating a transfer, and the download stays locked until the buyer completes a Stripe checkout. WeTransfer charges no platform fee on top of Stripe's own processing fees. Anything you read claiming otherwise is out of date — including, until recently, this page.
So why would I pay 15% when WeTransfer charges nothing?
For a single delivery to a single client, you probably shouldn't. The fee difference is real and we're not going to pretend otherwise. What you get for it is a product rather than a transfer: a link that doesn't expire, a per-buyer watermark on every download, sales caps, a profile page listing everything you sell, and a dashboard with buyers, payouts and per-link figures. If you're selling the same file to fifty people over six months, that's a different job from sending one folder to one client.
Does WeTransfer support iDEAL?
Paid transfers run on Stripe, and so do ours, so the available payment methods depend on Stripe configuration rather than on either platform. We're not going to claim a difference here we haven't verified — check WeTransfer's own checkout if this matters to you.
Can I sell a large file — a full course, a big video archive — on paytoview.nl?
Not past 50MB per file or 500MB total on one link — that's a hard limit. For anything bigger, a transfer tool built for large files is genuinely the better fit, and WeTransfer's paid transfers will handle it at a lower fee than we charge.
What happens after a WeTransfer link expires?
The download stops working and you send it again. That's fine for a client handover. It's a problem if the link is in your bio or a pinned post and you expect people to buy from it next month — which is the case this comparison is really about.
